Privacy Policy
UltiWrite Studio (“UltiWrite”, “we”, “us”) builds writing software for authors. Your manuscripts are among the most personal things you can create, and we treat them that way. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to provide the service:
- Account information: your email address, pen name, and any profile photo you choose to set. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored by us in plain text.
- Your content: projects, manuscripts, chapters, scenes, world entries, plans, notes, and other material you create in UltiWrite.
- Payment information: Stripe collects billing details when you subscribe. We do not store full card numbers; we retain a customer reference and current plan and status.
- Support and communications: messages such as support tickets and emails.
- Usage and device data: basic technical details such as app version, platform, and error diagnostics used to keep the product working.
How we use information
We use this information to operate, maintain, and improve UltiWrite; sync work across devices; process payments; manage subscriptions; send account, security, and transactional messages; respond to support; and address abuse or technical problems. We do not sell personal information or use manuscript content for advertising.
AI features and your content
AI writing tools are optional, off by default, and never required to use the app. A built-in AI request sends the relevant portion of text to a provider solely to generate the requested result. Bring-your-own provider requests are governed by that provider’s terms. Connections to local models can process text on your own machine. We do not use manuscripts, notes, or other author content to train machine-learning models.
How we share information
Information is shared only with service providers performing work for us; chosen AI providers when an AI feature is used; collaborators you authorize; legal or safety authorities when disclosure is required; or as part of a business transfer subject to this policy.
Storage, security, and retention
UltiWrite is offline-first: work is stored locally and may be synchronized so it is available across devices. Data in transit uses TLS. User-supplied AI keys are encrypted at rest and are not returned in plain text. Self-hosting places data on infrastructure selected by the user.
Information is retained while an account is active or as needed to provide the service. Deleted content and closed-account data are deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal obligations or disputes.
Your rights and choices
You can export manuscripts to EPUB, PDF, or DOCX, update profile details, delete projects, request account deletion, and opt out of non-essential email. Depending on location, additional GDPR, CCPA, or similar rights may apply, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection rights.
Cookies and analytics
The website uses only the cookies and similar technologies needed for account operation and aggregate product understanding. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Children, international transfers, and changes
UltiWrite is not intended for children under 13 or the minimum local age. Data may be processed outside the country where a user lives with protections required by applicable law. Material policy changes update the date on this page and may also be announced in the app or by email.
